Guided Birding Routes

Join the Guided Birding Walks and experience the beauty of the Garden Route with our guided bird walks, guided by BirdLife Plettenberg Bay volunteers. Our knowledgeable local birders, familiar with these stunning locations and habitats, will assist in identifying the rich bird life along the way.

Each walk lasts 2 to 2,5 hours, depending on the route and group’s pace, with groups capped at 10 people per group (maximum 2 groups per location*). Prepare for various habitats and consider waterproof boots for some of the estuary and wetland routes.

Stay updated through our Festival WhatsApp group for the latest info, including weather conditions and/or schedule changes or delays. Additionally, join our dedicated WhatsApp group specifically for sightings and bird ID assistance, and share your own sightings or seek help with bird identification.

*Forest Hall and Kwendalo will have max. 4 groups

We encourage you to please use the fantastic GoBirding platform created by BirdLife South Africa to explore the area and download the handy Bird Lists.

These checklists were generated using data from the Southern African Bird Atlas Project (SABAP2) captured by citizen scientists in the surrounding area (approx. 60km).

*Please note: this checklist is descriptive of the general area and may include birds not normally found at this site. Rare birds with low occurrence or no reports in the atlas data may also be missing from this list.

Tickets range between R125 – R155 per walk

*Please note: some locations like Robberg Nature Reserve charge a conservation entry fee additional to the ticket price upon entry. Wild Card members don’t pay this entry fee, depending on their membership status.
